I've always loved the idea that a home should tell a story.
Not just through the furniture or the architecture, but through the little things collected over time, whether it be a favorite painting, a stack of well-loved books, an antique found on a weekend trip, fresh flowers from the garden, or simply a framed photo of you and yours, I truly believe that those are the details that make a house feel lived in.
So, I thought it was time to create a place where I could share a bit more than just finished paintings.
If you're new here, welcome. I'm Charlie, the artist behind Charlie Jo Designs. From 8-5, I work as an account manager in the commercial interiors industry, helping create spaces where people work, gather, and connect. Early mornings, evenings, and weekends are spent in my Dallas studio, painting the gardens and landscapes that have stayed with me since growing up in Southern California. My work is often inspired by my grandmother's garden, quiet walks, layered landscapes, and the way light changes throughout the day. I paint primarily with acrylic and oil pastel on canvas, creating abstract botanicals that feel both expressive and timeless.
Outside the studio, you'll usually find me wandering an antique store, searching for beautiful interiors to save to Pinterest, taking my Australian Shepherd, Bixby, on a walk, or planning my next trip around gardens, museums, and good food. I believe beauty is worth paying attention to, investing in, and cherishing, even in the smallest moments.
This journal will be a collection of all those things. Studio updates, new series, interiors I'm loving, favorite books, antiques, travel, gardens, and whatever inspires the next painting.
Thank you for being here. Whether you've collected a painting, discovered my work today, or simply enjoy following along, I'm so glad our garden paths crossed. I hope this little blog feels like stopping by the studio for a cup of coffee (or a glass of sauvignon blanc...).
Until next time.
Loyally yours,
Charlie Jo
